Limb Lengthening Surgeries:
Limb lengthening surgeries involve surgical operations aimed at increasing bone length. These surgeries are typically performed on the long bones of the legs.

Two main techniques are used in limb lengthening:

External Fixation (External Fixator):
In the external fixation technique, an incision is made in the leg bone, and an external fixation device (external fixator) is used to lengthen the bones. The external fixator gradually widens the gap between the bones, allowing new bone tissue to form. The patient undergoes controlled and periodic adjustments of the device to gradually increase the length of the leg.

Internal Fixation: In this surgical technique, an incision is made in the leg bone. Subsequently, the bones are brought closer together and fixed. This method typically involves the use of special nails, plates, and screws. This approach allows the bones to heal and promotes growth. Internal fixation is less visible externally compared to the external fixation method, and the healing process may be somewhat faster. The postoperative period is crucial for both techniques. Patients are regularly monitored after surgical intervention, and the treatment process is completed under the supervision of a specialist physician. During the recovery process, patients are encouraged to participate in rehabilitation and physical therapy sessions.
